Becoming the Dance

crescendos of passion
rose and crashed
assaulted my ears –
i heard the music

twirling partners
hand to waist and
hip to hip –
i felt the touch

swell of music, whirl
of joy, pain dissolved
in swirls of color –
i was the dance

For Magaly’s first Trinkets and Armor prompt.

There are so many things I do to “soothe or smack [my] unwanted monsters.” Watching dance videos is one of them!

  1. You know this one made me want to squeal with delight, right? Few things are as soothing and as energy-giving as dancing. Moving our own hips, watching others move their bits… it’s all glorious. It’s as if we are physically burning or feeding the baddies and/or goodies, and the best part is that we can use the same thing to purge or call upon emotions. If that is not magic, then I don’t know what is.

I can’t stop grinning while I reread this. Just so you know.

By the way, your closing is begging (perhaps singing) to become another poem. 😀

    1. I was sitting on the three last lines for a while, saving them. When I saw your prompt, I knew it was perfect. And yes, I could do a whole series of “i am the dance”!! I’m so glad you got the magic of it, because of course this is about so much more than dancing 😊

  2. How moving……..and yes that is a play on your lovely and moving words. Delightful. THanks for sharing this for the first of many with Ms. Magaly’s Trinkets and Armor, xoxo Oma Linda

  3. Dance is a great soother. Your words have reminded me! I could feel the movement in your words! Well done!

  4. Oh Dainy, this brought back such happy feelings…I haven’t danced or years, but your words helped me “feel” the passion again XXX
