Landscapes of the Mind

Flames around her, joy within her –
I wonder how she does it.

Framed by wildness, face so peaceful –
I smile just to see her.

Focused, centered, so serene –
I wish that I could be her.

Look inside you, darling mine –
She knows that you can do it.

Laughter, tears, and all you’ll find –
Such richness deep within you.

Let her out of your mind’s eye –
Send peace and joy inside you.

Notes: When I read Rommy’s prompt about simple comforts over on The Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, I thought of so many things: tea, cozy sweaters, rain on the windows, music, afternoon naps, walks in the park, ferry rides… But when I started writing, this happened instead – my comfort is myself, in a way. And after all, that’s what all my “simple comforts” are about – getting in touch with myself, centering myself, etc. So I may not have followed the rules exactly, but I don’t think Rommy will be too upset 😉

  1. This is so incredibly heartening, Esther 💕 I agree, true comfort comes from being at ease within 🙂 Beautifully penned!💕
