Lady Liberty (4/2009)

Hold your head
Up high, my friend.
Don’t let them see
How you pretend.
You hold a torch
To help us all.
You stand straight as
Your stomach falls.
Your face turns green
You’re feeling sick.
You’re wishing this
Is over quick.
But you’re the one
You’ve been chosen
Now in time
Your face is frozen.
You stand for all
That’s good and just.
Your message holds
Comfort and trust.
You’re nauseous and
You tremble so.
Hold yourself still
So they don’t know.
And all who look
Can see the pride.
They’ll never see
The fear you hide.
